How do I noindex author archives or tag pages?

Author archives and tag pages each have a tab in Squirrly > Optimize > Automation, where Let Google Index it sets index or noindex for all pages of that kind.

PageTab in Automation – Configurations
Author archive, the list of one author’s postsProfile
Tag archive, the list of posts with one tagTag
  1. Go to Squirrly > Optimize > Automation.
  2. Click Profile or Tag in Automation – Configurations.
  3. Switch Let Google Index it off for noindex, or on to let Google index the pages.
  4. Click Save Settings.

The switch shows only while Add Robots Meta is on in SEO Metas. On the Tag tab, Include In Sitemap also decides whether tag pages go in the sitemap. The Profile tab has no sitemap switch. On the demo store both tabs let Google index the pages.
