The default values in SEO Automation are enough if you are an NON-SEO person. Add Post Type in Automation

If the website uses a custom post type and it’s not present in SEO Automation, Squirrly SEO will use the Custom post type by default.

To add a post type for custom automation, select the post type and click the Add Post Type button.

Use Patterns in SEO Automation

Squirrly Patterns play an important role in SEO Automation. Every pattern will be replaced with the real value behind it.
(e.g. {{title}} will be replaced with the post Title)

Patterns List:

  • {{date}} – Displays the date of the post/page once it’s published
  • {{title}} – Adds the title of the post/page once it’s published
  • {{page}} – Displays the number of the current page (i.e. 1 of 6)
  • {{parent_title}} – Adds the title of a page’s parent page
  • {{sitename}} – Adds the site’s name to the post description
  • {{sitedesc}} – Adds the tagline/description of your site
  • {{excerpt}} – Will display an excerpt from the post/page (if not customized, the excerpt will be auto-generated)
  • {{excerpt_only}} – Will display an excerpt from the post/page (no auto-generation)
  • {{tag}} – Adds the current tag(s) to the post description
  • {{category}} – Adds the post category (several categories will be comma-separated)
  • {{primary_category}} – Adds the primary category of the post/page
  • {{category_description}} – Adds the category description to the post description
  • {{tag_description}} – Adds the tag description
  • {{term_description}} – Adds the term description
  • {{term_title}} – Adds the term name
  • {{searchphrase}} – Displays the search phrase (if it appears in the post)
  • {{sep}} – Places a separator between the elements of the post description
  • {{modified}} – Replaces the publication date of a post/page with the modified one
  • {{name}} – Displays the author’s nicename
  • {{user_description}} – Adds the author’s biographical info to the post description
  • {{currentdate}} – Displays the current date
  • {{keyword}} – Adds the post’s keyword to the post description
  • {{currentday}} – Adds the current day
  • {{currentmonth}} – Adds the current month
  • {{currentyear}} – Adds the current year
  • {{product_name}} – Adds the product name in Woocommerce products
  • {{product_price}} – Adds the product price in Woocommerce products
  • {{product_currency}} – Adds the product currency in Woocommerce products

All these patterns can also be used in Squirrly SEO Snippet METAs to automate the SEO all the posts, pages, categories, tags, products, custom post types and custom taxonomies.

To use the patterns in Automation, click on the blue arrow next to the input field and select the available patterns for that specific post type.

The {{sep}} pattern can be used multiple time in automation and it will be replaced with the Separator value.

SEO Automation for Home Page

Even if the Home Page is a list of last posts or a static page Squirrly SEO will detect it and use the SEO Automation you set for it.

First, select the Home from the Post Type list. Then you can set the Title and Description METAs using patterns and also select the Separator sign.

From here you can select the Open Graph type and JSON-LD type for the Home page as Website.

Switch ON the option Let Google Index It to remove any noindex robot META from the source-code.

Switch ON Send Authority to it to let Google send authority from other websites to your Home page.

Switch ON Include in Sitemap so that Squirrly will add the Home Page in the sitemap.xml.

Double Traffic Report

If you activate Google Analytics and Facebook Pixels from your website make sure you don’t use other plugins for the same service.

Google will double the traffic in Analytics report in case you have 2 active tracking codes.

Once you set the automation for the Home Page you can save the settings and move to the next post type.

SEO Automation for Search Page

Setting the automation for the Search Page it’s pretty much the same as for the Home Page.

When you’re using Automation an Patterns in Squirrly SEO, the advantage is that you can combine static text with patterns.

SEO Automation for 404 Page

The 404 page doesn’t have to be indexed in Google or added in Squirrly Sitemap XML. You also don’t have to activate the tracking tools for it.

To optimize the 404 page just switch off the Google index, Authority, Sitemap, Trackings and Social Media. All you need to use for the 404 page is: Squirrly SEO METAs and Patterns.

Over time, Google, Twitter and other platforms increased the Description length and even the META Title length.

Squirrly SEO offers you full customization of the META lengths so that you don’t have to wait for plugin updates when these values change.

Once you saved the values, Squirrly Snippet and Assistant will update the limits and you will get insights with the new lengths.
